WE WILL DANCE AGAIN
With dancefloors remaining empty and soundsystems falling silent for the last year now - we look back on some of our favourite moments of the last 8 years of documenting a party near you.
Best of 2020: Caprice Festival
CAPRICES FESTIVAL 2020
Crans-Montana, Switzerland
Situated at two mountain-top stages in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana, Caprices Festival invited 1000 guests under strict health guidelines, for this one-off scaled back event.
We were invited to produce an aftermovie of the two weekend events, as well as provide primary press photography through daily round-up galleries. We also produced a pre-recorded ‘live stream’ for a Damian Lazarus afterparty which was edited and delivered on-site.
Our one photographer was responsible for both filming and photography, using both digital mediums as well as VHS tape recording, and polaroid portraits of artists.

Best of 2020: Motion presents HAAi Curates
HAAi Curates
Motion, Bristol
After the dust settled on the new year, we were invited to cover a curated night of music by HAAi, featuring some incredible performances by Roi Perez, Manami, Peach, and an odyssey of an all-night set from Optimo in the sweatbox that is Motion’s Tunnel room.

Best of 2020: Unit B1
Unit B1 presents craig richards
Undisclosed Hackney Archway, London
A week before the pandemic set in and forced the UK into a nationwide lockdown, we were invited to shoot what was to be one of our last events of the year. Looking back, it was fitting that our last days of shooting would be in a sweaty, over-crowded tunnel of a semi-legal rave in East London, full of familiar faces and unannounced billing of the night’s music.
With no lights besides the fractal light show projected behind the DJ, the rave was a pretty dimly lit affair, with silhouettes of hands in the air and a single bare bulb in the adjoining tunnel your only guides to find the bar, toilet, or way out. Not that you could make it out of the dancefloor, nor would you need to, with everyone sparking a cigarette where they danced, saving themselves a trip out into the cold March night.

Best of 2020: 10 Years of Timedance
10 YEARS OF TIMEDANCE
The Trinity Centre, Bristol / Village Underground, London
Mixmag commissioned our photography team to document the 10 year celebrations of the iconoclastic Bristol-based party, Timedance. The following gallery spans two separate events - Timedance’s own 10 year celebrations at Bristol’s Trinity centre, and Transmissions at London’s Village Underground.
We pursued a more tactile attitude to shooting this event, taking stylistic cues from live gig photography and combining double-exposure digital images with raw 35mm stills.
